September 3, Tuesday, will be the birthday of Lord Krishna, the most important avatar of Vishnu.
Janmashtami, also called Gokulashtami and Krishna Jayanti, will be celebrated in nearly every corner of India with fastings, prayers, decorations and symbolic customs.
At a roadside stall in Delhi statues of Lord Krishna are on display during the run up to Janmashtami.
