Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf met in New York on Wednesday night, reiterating their pledge that they would not allow terrorism to impede the peace process.

Dr Singh also accepted an invitation by President Musharraf to visit Pakistan, although no dates have been fixed.

After a four-hour discussion, the two leaders released a joint statement, expressing their continual commitment to ensuring a peaceful settlement of all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir. They also said that the recent release of prisoners on both sides would continue.
