Salman Khan released from Thane Jail

Actor Salman Khan, charged with killing one person and injuring four in a hit-and-run case, was on Thursday released from Thane Jail after a sessions court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 and a surety of like amount.

The actor, who was released at 2015 IST, left for an undisclosed location, police sources said.

The media was kept in the dark about the actor's release from jail. Salman's family members and friends told journalists that he would be released only on Friday.

A large number of journalists were gathered outside the main gate of the jail, but the actor was allowed to leave from the rear entrance.

The order of the court and police verification of the surety were delivered to the jailor in the evening.

The procedure for verifying surety is time consuming, but in this case the clearance was expedited, the sources said.
