Salman not to be released before Friday

Salman Khan will not come out of jail until Friday, although the Mumbai sessions court released him on bail on Thursday in a hit-and-run case.

He has been asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs 20,000 with a surety of like amount. Verification of surety will take at least a day, prosecutor R V Kini said.

Salman will produce the surety before a lower court, which will order police to verify his solvency and residential address. Therefore, the chances of his getting out of jail on Thursday are bleak, the prosecutor said.

The actor has already spent 17 days in jail, where he reportedly swept the floor and signed autograph books of the children of the prison staff.

Salman had allegedly rammed his vehicle into a bakery, killing one person and injuring four, in suburban Bandra on September 28.
