Bipasha: I'm the queen of multi-starrers

July 24, 2006
When she first heard the name of her character in Vishal Bharadwaj's Omkara, Bipasha Basu thought it sounded like a pan masala! She plays Billo Chaman Bahar, the woman called Bianca in Shakespeare's Othello.

Patcy N spoke to the actress on her forthcoming film and life after Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate. Excerpts:

Billo Chaman Bahar is a village entertainer. There is a love track between her and Vivek Oberoi.

I never do homework for my role; I was never asked to. Vishal (Bharadwaj) was clear about what he wanted me to do. I couldn't attend the workshop he had for all the actors, so he recorded my dialogues in the dialect he wanted and also gave me required material I needed to study.

I did something different with Omkara. I had a different dialect, a great director and good co-stars. Nowadays, films are not just about heroes and heroines. In Hollywood, even a big star plays small characters. Each actor in Omkara has played his or her part really well.
