In a dramatic fusion of wildly different cultures and styles, Agnimitra Paul fused the Indian craft of kantha with western silhouettes.
Her collection was aptly titled Stich Story -- The Kantha tale.
Never has this traditional art been manifested in such contemporary and fashionable designs.
There were blouses, skirts, tunics, evening wear and Indian formal pieces.
The show climaxed with the designer bringing two villagers on the ramp for a bow, a gesture of thanks and appreciation to those who harboured and nurtured this fine craft.
