Pakistan and India have been placed in separate groups for the Asian Under-17 cricket championships to be played in Bangladesh from February 15. All the games would be day affairs, and at least four matches would have to be held in one day due to high participation of teams said tournament director Anil Kalavar. Since the tournament was being held to promote the game in Asia no prize money would be given to the winners.

tralian great Sir Don Bradman is resting at home in Adelaide after a bout of pneumonia, which landed him in hospital just before Christmas. According to his son John, the 92-year-old Don was pleased to be home and is resting under medical supervision.
Bangladesh will play their first Test overseas in April when they visit Zimbabwe. Beginning April 2nd, Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Tests and three one-day internationals. The BCB President SH Chowdhury said in Dhaka that Bangladesh have negotiated tours with all countries except England and Australia, with whom they are trying to settle dates for bilateral tours.
Former Maharashtra chief-minister Sharad Pawar filed his nomination for the Mumbai Cricket Association elections to be held on January 19th. His chief rival will be former India skipper Ajit Wadekar.
The organisers of the forthcoming Sharjah Trophy tournament have finally confirmed the change of dates following a request from the BCCI. The tournament will now be held from April 8th to 20th instead of April 4th-13th. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Farukh Engineer and Chetan Sharma will be the Indian beneficiaries and will each get a purse of $35,000. The CBFS will also give $105,000 to the Boards of Pakistan and Sri Lanka to be distributed among beneficiaries of their countries.
The PCB doctors have given a clean chit of health to injury-prone fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. He had undergone a rehabilitation period for eight weeks and is now bowling as fast as he used to before his injuries. A lot of work has been done on rebuilding his body and fitness. Dr Tauseef Razzaq who is supervising the physical fitness of a few other cricketers as well said he would like to expose Shoaib to the domestic circuit.
South Africa's new fast bowling find Mfuneko Ngam will be out of action for at least two to three months following his third injury in recent months. Ngam has a stress fracture in his right femur. He had earlier injured
his shoulder twice. The South African team physio Craig Smith said in Port Elizabeth that the third stress fracture in a row could suggest that there is a problem with Ngam's skeletal structure. Meanwhile opener Gary Kirsten will also be out of action for the rest of the Sri Lanka games due to a broken finger bone.
Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin will challenge the life ban issued on him by the BCCI in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The writ petition in this regard has been finalised by his advocate HR Bharadwaj and will soon be filed in the Andhra Pradesh high court.
The PCB has finalized a three-member review committee who will work on Afridi's bowling action and submit a report after six weeks. If the ICC were not satisfied with the PCB committee report they have the option of appointing their own review body to further study Afridi's action and take a final decision on whether he can continue to play international cricket or not.
The ICC will announce a 10-year plan for fixtures between the ten Test playing nations next month. A spokesperson from Melbourne said that the 10-year plan (to establish a pattern of Test fixtures) is almost sure to go ahead.
