The Hyderabad Cricket Association rejected the resignation of former Test player Shivlal Yadav as secretary of the HCA. Yadav had resigned in the wake of the controversy over awarding of rights to a "private advertising agency" for the next three one-day internationals to be organised by the HCA and a four-year sponsorship of the state Ranji Trophy team.

The ICC's anti-corruption unit has denied sending any letter to the Pakistan Board influencing them on the selection of those players who have been named in their match fixing inquiry. Official Geoff Reese said in London that he had no knowledge of any letter to the PCB asking them not to select Wasim Akram. Reports from within the PCB say that Wasim Akram was not selected as the PCB had received a letter from Sir Paul Condon asking that Wasim not be played.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that former England opening batsman Geoff Boycott will be paid a 30,000 pounds to coach Pakistani cricketers. Boycott is due to arrive in Pakistan early next month for a two week coaching session. The decision to pay Boycott 30,000 pounds for a 15-day stint has outraged the people and media in Pakistan, who described the PCB officials as spendthrifts.
With just a day to go before the crucial Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) elections, Ajit Wadekar contesting against Sharad Pawar for the post of President got the jitters when he found his name missing from the nominations list. Supposed to be nominated by the Principal of Ruia College, Wadekar's name was replaced by the name of the college principal Mr Ramesh Sane instead. Later it was found to be a mistake on Sane's part who was not aware of the nomination method and put his own name, photo and signature on the nomination card. The faux pas was realised in time and a corrected copy was soon dispatched to the MCA office.
Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Jadeja have each been found to have allegedly concealed income, assets and investments above Rs. 2 crore and were sent notices last fortnight to send declarations for a 10-year period. After a five month long probe the IT department has now disclosed income of Kapil Dev at above 2.5 crore, Prabhakar at around 2.5 crore, Jadeja 2.2 crore, Ajay Sharma 70 lakhs, and Nikhil Chopra at 50 lakhs. The cricketers have been given a month to submit details of their undeclared income.
The BCCI is likely to announce former Test stars Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Farukh Engineer and Chetan Sharma as India's beneficiaries for the forthcoming tri-series (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) in Sharjah in April. Meanwhile from the Pakistan side Majid Khan who was nominated by the PCB declined to be a part of it. The CBFS will now award it to Sarfaraz Nawaz instead.
Former England pace bowler Ed Giddins has signed a two-year contract with county champions Surrey after leaving Warwickshire at the end of last season. Giddins (29) resurrected his career after he was sacked by Sussex in 1996 and suspended for 19 months following a positive test for cocaine.
