Indian team returns

March 25, 2003 10:43 IST

The Indian cricket team, which was demolished by Australians in the World Cup final in South Africa on Sunday to the disappointment of millions of fans, arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday morning.

The team, which arrived at 0900 IST at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, was given a traditional welcome.

Others who arrived by the same flight included NCP president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Vishwanath.

The team was earlier scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. However, plans were changed at the instance of the Sahara Group, the team sponsor.
