Former women world number one shuttler Zhou Mi of Hong Kong has been suspended for two years for failing a drug test, World badminton Federation said on Saturday.
Former champion Taufik Hidayat halted Danish youngster Jan O Jorgensen's giant-killing run 21-19, 21-19 to enter the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships on Friday. In the women's draw, world number one Zhou Mi of Hong Kong was toppled 21-15, 21-18 by Chinese fifth seed Xie Xingfang.
Saina Nehwal's semi-final outing in the China Masters Super Series turned out to be a lopsided affair as the ace Indian shuttler crashed out of the event after suffering a straight-game defeat at hands of her new nemesis Zhou Mi in Changzhou on Saturday.
Zhang Ning defeated countrywoman Zhou Mi 11-0, 11-8 to win the women's singles crown.
