A 48-year-old man succumbed to swine flu at the SSG Hospital in Vadodara on Sunday morning, pushing the total number of H1N1 deaths in Gujarat to six. Hasmukh Hingu was admitted to the government-run hospital on August 20 with respiratory distress syndrome and had been in a critical stage since then. Hingu tested positive for swine flu on Saturday. With this, the nation-wide toll due to the H1N1 pandemic has risen to 64, hospital authorities said.
HIN1 virus deaths continued unabated with a 44-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man succumbing to the virus in Delhi and Bangalore, pushing the toll to 76 as 137 more contracted the infection across the country.
