Celebrating its 75 successful years of campaigning for child rights, Plan India on Wednesday organised a video conferencing between the group of Plan India children and Plan Pakistan community children to share their opinions and views on the issues affecting their lives.
The visiting team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights led by its chairperson Dr Shantha Sinha has been appalled by the plight of refugee children lodged in camps inhabited by thousands of riot-hit refugees in western Assam.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson Shantha Sinha spoke the work they have done. NCPCR was set up in March 2007, but actually started working from July onwards. As it was the first year, most of their time was spent in understanding the issues. She stressed the need to allocate at least 6 per cent of the GDP for education. She also calls for a benchmark for uniformity in definition of a child and his age in consultation with the UN and govt.
A five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, hearing a petitions challenging Aadhaar, said no system in the world was secure and the issue was not as to how data is collected, but how the information so collected are used or misused.
