US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu. The ceremony took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Gor's appointment was confirmed last year, and he previously served as the White House personnel director. He emphasized the importance of India-US relations and ongoing efforts to finalize a trade deal.
Urvashi Ramnarine, an employee at the High Commission of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in New Delhi, says over forty per cent of the population of Indian origin in her homeland speak in Hindi or Bhojpuri. "I came to know that the language spoken there was Bhojpuri only after coming here," she admits.
The meeting between Dr Singh and Sarkozy on climate change assumes significance as it came just ten days before the Copenhagen Summit on the issue.
India will play their first match on March 17 against Bangladesh at Port of Spain.
