Meghalaya government on Wednesday confirmed 'bird-flu' in a government-run poultry farm in East Garo Hills district and more than 5500 birds is suspected to have been affected within a radius of three km near the farm.
East Garo Hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi said the army would move in shortly and curfew will remain in force in the affected areas. Curfew has also been clamped on areas in the Assam side by the Goalpara administration.
