Davis Cup: Ramkumar to lead Indian challenge against Pakistan on grass courts
In a moral victory for the All India Tennis Association, the International Tennis Federation has given the AITA the right to host its next Davis Cup tie against Australia, which had forfeited its previous rubber on security grounds in May.
The International Tennis Federation will consider an appeal from India seeking a heavier penalty on Australia for forfeiting last month's Davis Cup tie in Chennai due to security concerns. The ITF said on Friday it had received an appeal from the All India Tennis Association which would be discussed at a board meeting on July 15.
The International Tennis Federation on Friday decided not to suspend Australia from Davis Cup competition for forfeiting their Asia/Oceania Group I tie against India and let them off with a mild punishment -- a fine of US $10,000.
