Some doctors were absent from duty for 20 years, others for 15, some for 12. About 64 doctors remained absent from duty for more than five years.
The strike called by Bihar Health Services Association has paralysed the working in hospitals and public health centres across the state.
"We have made up our mind to go on two day strike unless our demands are met or we get an assurance in this regard from chief minister Nitish Kumar," BSHSA general secretary Ajay Kumar said.
