The police on Friday registered a case against Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathi and seven others complying with a court directive with regard to the death of new-born babies at a government-run hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
The government planned to set up child helplines in four districts immediately and take the campaign to other major cities in the state, she said.
Eighty one people have died due to chickungunya in the state.
Health Minister P K Sreemathi, who is camping at Alappuzha from where most of the casualties were reported, said a WHO team comprising experts from national institutes on communicable diseases would arrive in the district on October 5.
