Pakistani security forces killed four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in Punjab province, thwarting a planned attack on police checkpoints and government installations.
An anti-terrorism court in Dera Ghazi Khan district, 400 km from Lahore, on Wednesday gave the death sentence on 52 counts to Behram alias Sufi Baba, who was convicted of masterminding the attack on Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar shrine.
Pakistani law enforcement agencies have arrested a terrorist for his involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009. Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed Adnan Khosa, also known as Arshad or Sajjad, within the jurisdiction of Raitra police station, Dera Ghazi Khan district police chief Tassaduq Hiyat said. Khosa, whose codename was 'Chotu', had been included in the police's 'Red Book', a list of high-value militants, Hiyat said.
Police said the accused, identified as Raju Lakshman, was arrested on Wednesday from Rakhi Gaj area of Dera Ghazi Khan district, some 400-km from Lahore.
