A tense standoff erupted between Himachal Pradesh Police and Delhi Police following the arrest of Youth Congress activists involved in the protest at the AI Summit, escalating into allegations of kidnapping and obstruction of justice.
An assistant commissioner of police on Friday slapped a young girl inside a hospital where she and others were protesting against the brutal rape of a five- year-old girl and was immediately suspended. Delhi Health Minister A K Walia was also heckled inside the Swami Dayanand Hospital when he arrived there to meet the victim.
A senior Delhi Police official posted with the elite Special Cell was severely assaulted on Thursday allegedly by three persons including a woman and a juvenile in a case of road-rage in South Delhi's posh Lodhi Estate area.
According to police officials, 28-year-old Aftab Poonawala of Mumbai has been arrested in the case, and some severed body parts of the woman, Shraddha Walkar, have been recovered.
