India's high commission in Canada said on Wednesday that the country's officials will resume processing some types of visa applications for Canadians applying from across the country as well as abroad.
The empowered committee delegation, including state finance ministers participated in two round table conferences sponsored by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce and the Canada-India Business Council. Tax experts from Couzon Taylor, Brian Wurts, HST Consulting etc, made presentations at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce event.
Referring to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's visit to India in November last year, Chidambaram said that India and Canada have longstanding bilateral relations, built upon shared traditions of democracy, pluralism and strong interpersonal connections with an Indian diaspora of more than one million in Canada.
"Canada must evolve fast track system for business and student visas and create its brand name in India," Indian High Commissioner to Canada R L Narayan said. He was addressing an international education conference organised by Canada-India Business Council along with Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute.
Canada has started stressing on education as a trade catalyst with colleges and universities traveling to India and other countries in increasingly large numbers for recruiting students and faculty, signing agreements with foreign universities to work in close partnerships, opening satellite campuses in India, and offering joint degrees.
"The rest of the world should pass a motion of thanks to India for keeping its emission at a level which actually is below the level required to achieve climate sustainability," says Montek Singh Ahluwalia, a key member of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's economic team.
James Laurence Balsillie, founder and co-chief executive officer of Research in Motion, feels that in the next 20 years, India will reach the developed nation status with $20,000 per capita income in terms of purchasing power parity.
