Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday expressed concern over China's proposed mega hydropower project on the upstream of Siang River in Tibet, stating it will have a cascading effect on India and Bangladesh in the near future.
The proposed North East Water Resources Agency would result in the reduction of the region's share of the resource, Bharatiya Janata Party National Secretary Khiren Rijiju said. The reported attempt to club North Bengal and form a new agency in place of the existing Brahmaputra Board indicated that the central government was anti-Northeast, he said.
