Charging China with following unfair trade practices, an influential US Senator has proposed a bill of rights to protect the American workforce from unfair competition in a global economy.
US President Barack Obama's new Afghan policy drew mixed reaction at the Capitol Hill with leading Congressmen welcoming it, while several members of his own party were reluctant to support it, if not directly oppose it.
The proposed bill would suspend all pending visa petitions from countries refusing to take back illegal immigrants until they agree to repatriate our deportees. The legislation would also direct the State Department to withhold funds under the Foreign Assistance Act to countries that persist in this refusal. India is amongst eight countries to have refused to repatriate illegal migrants.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has voted in favour of raising the H1B visa limit from 65,000 to 95,000.
