The security setup along the highway is on high alertness and checkings have been intensified as a measure to foil any design of anti-national elements, they said.
The situation in the entire Jammu city and adjoining towns continued to be tense, even as the authorities extended curfew to Kathua district on the Pathankote Jammu national highway following largescale violence in the town. Contingents of Rapid Action Force were airlifted from outside the state and reached winter capital Jammu on Thursday.
"A high alert has been sounded in Kathua district and entry into the state from neighbouring Punjab at Lakhanpur is being monitored and checked", said a senior police officer in winter capital Jammu.
