Magnus Carlsen, the undisputed king of chess, has found his queen in Ella Victoria Malone.
The 34-year-old Grandmaster, who tied the knot on January 4 at the Holmenkollen chapel in Oslo, treated fans to scenes from his wedding day on Sunday.
Magnus wore a dashing black tuxedo -- a sharp contrast to his recent jeans controversy at the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in New York.
Ella, 26, who was born to a Norwegian mother and an American father, grew up in Singapore and was based there before the wedding. She fell in love with chess after watching the Netflix drama The Queen's Gambit.
The couple first turned heads at the Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T Challenge in Germany last February; since then, Ella has been a constant presence at Magnus' tournaments worldwide.
Ella revealed how Magnus' ability to remember her birthday won her over.
'He remembered my birthday immediately, which really flattered me. But it turns out he has a really good memory, so I am not sure! He remembers everyone's birthday!'
Post the wedding, Ella will take over as Magnus' agent, managing media interactions at chess tournaments.
Magnus holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak in elite classical chess -- 125 games -- and is rated one of the greatest players of all time.
