It was a quiet birthday for India's badminton ace Saina Nehwal, who celebrated the special day in 'isolation' with her husband Parupalli Kashyap at her home in Hyderabad, on Tuesday.
"Wish I could spend my birthday with all my friends but I’m stuck with this guy at home yummy ice-cream cake though. A good workout later to burn it off #birthdayisolation," said the 2012 Olympic bronze-medallist as she opted for a quiet birthday at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Saina, who became the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in badminton at the London Games, is facing a race against time to make the cut for Tokyo Olympics due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has seen a number of qualifying tournaments getting postponed.
The Indian sports fraternity showered heartfelt birthday wishes on Saina on her 30th birthday.
From legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh to wrestling great Yogeshwar Dutt, everyone took to social media to wish the Hyderabadi ace.
"Wishing our swashbuckling champion a very happy birthday @NSaina," Yuvraj tweeted.
"Wishing you a very Happy birthday with a successfully year ahead @NSaina," Irfan Pathan said.
