Lionel Messi's private plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Zaventem airport in Brussels after a technical problem on Friday. However, it's unknown whether the FC Barcelona star was on board the flight.
The plane was heading to Tenerife, Spain but was grounded at Zaventem at 9:10am on Friday due to a technical issue. It took off again 90 minutes later before turning around and returning to Brussels, according to reports in the Belgian and the UK media.
According to Dutch daily HLN, there was a problem with the landing gear.
The Spanish club’s highest goal-scorer, Messi bought the plane two years ago for around £11.5m (€13m).
Messi and his Barcelona team-mates, who have taken a huge pay cut, are currently isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic.
La Liga has been suspended indefinitely because of the deadly virus.
