Sporting Clube de Goa kept their hopes of avoiding relegation alive when they got the better of JCT by a solitary goal in a 20th round I-League match at the Nehru Stadium, in Margao, Goa, on Wednesday.
The home side, which had more of the exchanges and scoring opportunities, scored the all-important goal in the 33rd minute through Bisheshwor Singh.
They could have won by bigger margin had their converted the chances that came their way. They were unlucky twice as Junior Obagbemiro and substitute Stanley Samuel's efforts hit the crossbar.
Following their third victory in the league, Sporting Clube have 17 points from 20 matches while JCT, who lost their third successive match, have 22 points from as many matches.
