First Look: Italian PM meets French Open champ Schiavone

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (right) with French Open winner Francesca Schiavone at the Chigi palace in RomeFrancesca Schiavone's French Open victory last weekend propelled the Italian to No 6 in the WTA rankings issued on Monday.

But the good times continue to roll for the 29-year-old French Open champion, who became the oldest woman to win her first Grand Slam title since Ann Jones won Wimbledon in 1969.

Schiavone's success at Roland Garros were appreciated, not just by the fans but also by the Italian government. And, on Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi met Schiavone at the Chigi palace in Rome, as a recognition and celebration of her achievement.

Here's hoping this honour inspires Schiavone to many more Grand Slam wins in the future!
