'End of era': Waqar, Tendulkar condole demise of Rishi Kapoor

Pakistan pace bowling legend Waqar Younis on Thursday condoled the demise of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, saying that an era has ended with his demise.

 

"Heart Broken. A terrible week for the World cinema. An era ends with your demise but you will stay in our hearts forever. My deepest condolences to the Kapoor family. #RIP #Legend"," he said on Twitter.

Kapoor, who had been unwell after being diagnosed with cancer and was admitted to the H N Reliance hospital, passed away on Thursday morning.

India's cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar, who was a big fan of Kapoor's movies, was left heartbroken.

"Very very sad to hear about the passing away of Rishi ji. I grew up watching his movies and he was always very gracious when we met over the years. May his soul Rest in Peace. My heartfelt condolences to Neetu ji, Ranbir and the whole Kapoor family," he said on Twitter.

India captain Virat Kohli was left in a state of shock at Kapoor's passing away after he had barely come to terms with Irrfan Khan's death on Wednesday.

"This is unreal and unbelievable. Yesterday Irrfan Khan and today Rishi Kapoor ji. It's hard to accept this as a legend passes away today. My condolences to the family and may his soul rest in peace," he said.

India's head coach Ravi Shastri also mourned the demise of the veteran actor.

"Shocking, to say the least. Never a dull moment with #RishiKapoor around. A laugh a minute. My prayers and thoughts are with Neetu Ji, Ranbir, and Riddhima. God bless his soul".

"#RishiKapoor childhood hero...gone..heartfelt condolences to his family and friends," said former India leg-spinner Anil Kumble.

"Another big cancerous blow to Bollywood..#RishiKapoor joins #IrrfanKhan almost in a hurry leaving Film Industry shell shocked..RIP #RishiKapoor..Deep Condolences to the Kapoor Clan..GodBless All Always..!!" another Indian spin great Bishan Singh Bedi tweeted.

"As a kid, I was enthralled by Rishi Kapoor ji and his trendsetting performances. He was an icon. Still recall watching films only because of him! He was truly one of a kind! Full of life! I pray for his family & loved ones. #RishiKapoor," said former India batsman Gautam Gambhir.

"What a year already but what a sad and depressing week this is turning out to be, one bad news after the other .. Huge losses .. the country is mourning for these legends .. #ripirrfankhan #riprishikapoor," Sania Mirza tweeted.

"Woke up with this very sad news @chintskap is no more #RIPRishikapoor ji Condolence to the family," said Harbhajan Singh.

"What an absolutely heartbreaking news to wake up to. I’m at a loss of words, rest in peace #RishiKapoor ji," said Mohammad Kaif.
