Will you take part in the Olympics again?
I cannot answer that question. I am 28 years old. I have reached the pinnacle of the sport. I will be 32 in the next Olympics. But not to say that I could not do it. If I did it, it would be to go after the gold medal, which I believe that the US can really do. My decision is on a day to day basis now. I still love to do gymnastics. Would like to participate in various competitions. Perform in India, show the people some gymnastics. About the next Olympics, I am not a 100 percent sure. It's very tough on the body.
How did you get involved with Nanubhai Education Foundation?
My cousin Raj Shah reached out to me about this program. I started to research more about the foundation and it resonates with what I want to do -- lifting the human spirit. Any opportunity that I get to involve myself in the betterment of the grand cause, I would do. It's more than a philanthropic cause -- for me it brings a purpose to winning the Olympic medal. I am hoping that my involvement with the foundation can help not only with the education reform but I also want to provide an example of the health and fitness side. Somehow provide opportunities for the rural kids to be completely well rounded and well balanced.
