Prakash Amritraj paid for his impatience, as he lost the opening singles rubber against Victor Crivioi of Romania in the Davis Cup World Group Play-offs in Bucharest on Friday.
The Romanian No 2 shrugged off a nervous start to win 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 at the Clubul Sportiv Progresul clay-courts and earn the hosts a 1-0 lead.
India's Somdev Devvarman will take on top-ranked Romanian Victor Hanescu in the second singles later in the evening.
