'I am grateful to God that Anand has not changed'

November 1, 2008

You must be feeling really proud of your son...

I can't deny that.

Unlike many sports persons, Anand is very grounded and remains the same person though he is on the top of the world. Fame or success has not changed him at all. How did he become like that?

  • He has always been like that. He always talks like this even after a win: 'Maybe Kramnik made some mistake, maybe I played a little better.' He would never say the opponent played badly or was not good enough. That is one good quality about him.

He never blames anybody, never gets angry with anybody. When many people wrote that he was not good in aggressive chess, we asked him, why do they say so? He said, 'Don't worry, don't read that.'. That is how he is, calm and cool.

I am grateful to God that Anand has not changed after tasting so much success.
