Max Mirnyi and Jamie Murray snapped a four match losing streak defeating Dmitry Tursunov and Stanislas Wawrinka 7-5, 6-4 in the first round.
Mirnyi and Murray had last won a match together in March, when they reached the semifinals at the ATP Masters Series event in Indian Wells.
They next face the top seeded duo of Bob and Mike Bryan, who are two-time finalists in Rome.
