Dubai Open: Bopanna, Qureshi beaten

Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq-Qureshi squandered one-set lead advantage against the top seeded pair of Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic to bow out of the $ 1,410,000 Barclays Dubai Open on Thursday.

The Indo-Pakistan combine lost to Canadian-Serbian duo 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-10 in a thrilling quarterfinal encounter, which lasted one hour and 24 minutes.

Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and his Bahamas partner Mark Knowles booked a quarterfinal berth after beating Jordan Kerr of Australia and Roger Wassen of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-3 in their first round clash on Wednesday.

The winners next take on formidable Spanish duo of Rafael Nadal [Images] and Feliciano Lopez, who beat South African pair of Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie 6-4, 7-6(5).

Leander Paes [Images] had made a first-round exit from the tournament along with his Australian partner Paul Hanley [Images].
