Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will make his Davis Cup debut for France [Images] in a first-round tie against Romania next month.
Tsonga, who burst into the limelight with his run in Melbourne, was called up on Tuesday by captain Guy Forget to play singles alongside France number one Richard Gasquet in the Feb. 8-10 tie in Sibiu, Romania.
Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement, losing finalists of the Australian Open doubles final, will play doubles.
The 22-year-old Tsonga knocked out three top-10 players, among them Gasquet and world number two Rafael Nadal [Images], on his way to the Australian Open final, which he lost to Serbia's Novak Djokovic on Sunday.
"Being able to represent France is a dream come true," Tsonga, who climbed 20 places up to 18th in the world rankings, told a news conference.
