F1 teams get cracking

January 15, 2008

Mark Webber, the first Australian to race in Formula One since David Brabham in 1994, made his debut in Formula One in 2002, in his home race at Albert Park, Melbourne.

An impressive first season saw him become the lead driver of Jaguar Racing and do moderartely well in the subsequent two seasons. He joined the Williams team in 2005 and achieved a third place at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix -- his best F1 result so far and also achieved at the 2007 European Grand Prix.

Webber's two-year contract with Williams finished in 2006 and he joined Red Bull Racing, partnering David Coulthard. But he had a largely disappointing sesaon, finishing a lowly 12th in the driver's standings.
