Injury has forced world number two doubles pair Mike and Bob Bryan of America to pull out of the $ 450,000 ATP Chennai Open in Chennai from January 5 to 11.

"All American doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan have withdrawn their participation owing to an aggravated injury to Bob Bryan," the organisers said in a statement.

"This is really unfortunate. We were keenly looking forward to our participation at the Chennai Open 2009; however Bobs injury has spoilt our plans. We were eagerly looking forward in playing in India but things have not worked out," the Bryans said.

The Bryan brothers may have pulled out but the tournament boasts of a star-studded field that includes Russian Davis Cupper Nicolay Davidenko.

"While the Bryans will be missed, tennis enthusiasts of Chennai can eagerly look forward to some good action with the presence of international stars like Davydenko and Indian stars Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] and Leander Paes [Images] in the doubles draw," said Fernando Soler, Tournament Director, Chennai Open.
