"(He's) one of our great players. He came through the ranks and he knows about this club. I'm so pleased for everyone," United manager Alex Ferguson told ITV television.
Scholes was suspended for United's epic victory over Bayern Munich in the 1999 final, and Ferguson had already said he would play in the final if they qualified.
