Prakash Amritraj's run in the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, at Newport, Rhode Island, came to an end on Friday when he was beaten by fifth seed Nicolas Mahut of France [Images] in the quarter-finals.
The US-based Indian Davis Cup player, who qualified for the main draw, was beaten 6-4, 7-6(4) by the Frenchman.
Also failing to advance was Pakistan's promising player Aisam Qureshi, who was beaten by Dick Norman of Belgium 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Amritraj and Qureshi had teamed up for the doubles, but fell at the first hurdle, losing in straight sets to top seeds Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Fabrice Santoro of France.
In the other singles quarter-finals, fourth seed Santoro beat Mischa Zverev of Germany [Images] 6-4, 6-3 while Moodie beat second seed Vince Spadea of the United States 6-4, 6-4.
