Andre Agassi [Images] was swept aside 6-4, 6-2 by Russian Nikolay Davydenko at the season-ending Masters Cup on Monday.

The former world number one was completely outplayed in Shanghai in his first match since losing to Roger Federer [Images] in the US Open final two months ago.

Davydenko secured a double break in the second set with a backhand pass to go 5-2 up and raced through the final game to love when a frustrated Agassi dumped a forehand into the net.

The 35-year-old Agassi, winner of the Masters title in 1990, appeared to be struggling with his right shoulder and had little answer to Davydenko's power in a one-sided match.
