Lance Armstrong: Fallen Icon?

In 2004, the Lance Armstrong Foundation developed the Livestrong wristband. It was part of the Wear Yellow Live Strong educational programme to support cancer victims and survivors, and to raise cancer awareness.

The bands were sold to raise $5 million for the Foundation, in cooperation with Nike. Why yellow? Because it was the colour of Armstrong's famous Tour de France jersey. To date, over 50 million wristbands have been sold.

Accusations, hints or allegations apart, Lance Armstrong continues to command respect.

After all, not everyone battles cancer, overcomes all odds, and goes on to rule the world.
