The Opening Ceremony
The Olympic rings stand out in the backdrop of darkness during the opening ceremony.
The stadium floor was flooded with water, creating a shimmering sea that burst into flames in an electrifying moment as the five Olympic rings were set ablaze by a pyrotechnic comet flashing down from the sky.
The five-ringed symbol represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games.
