Defending women's champion Serena Williams was simply too powerful for Switzerland's Marie-Gaiane Mikaelian. She won 6-3, 6-2.
"I never really play at 100 per cent. I'm more or less used to winning when I'm not doing my best. For me I know there's a lot of things that I'd like to improve on," said Serena after the match.
