Die-hard Dhanraj

In his 14-year career, Dhanraj has seen several accolades come his way. In 1995, he won the Arjuna Award and followed that up with the K. K. Birla Foundation Puraskar in 1998-99, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1999, and the Padma Shri in 2000.

He has certainly deserved the awards and recognition.

In the just-concluded Hockey Australia Men's Challenge, where he led India to triumph in the second leg of the tournament, he showcased the same spirit and fighting qualities that helped India win the Asian Games gold medal in 1998, after a lapse of 32 years.
