Defending champion Albert Costa of Spain beat Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-2, 7-5, 7-4 to move into the quarter-finals.
"Today is the first day that it went to three sets. So I don't feel that tired. I think this match is given me confidence because I played much better tennis," Costa said after the match.
