Manchester United fielded the same team that had walloped Newcastle 6-2, and it seemed to pay-off as they went into an early lead.

The mercurial Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored a superb goal as he ran through a couple of defenders on the left flank and fired the ball past a diving Taylor in the Arsenal goal to register his 19th goal of the season.
