Rashtriya Swayam sevak Sangh chief  Mohan Bhagwat the RSS does not interfere in party work. The issue of leadership in BJP has to be decided by the party. "It is not for us to interfere," said Bhagwat at a press conference in Delhi.

Bhagwat's press conference had generated a huge amount of speculation as it cam on the heels of a crisis in the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bhagwat said that the infighting happening in the BJP was not good and called for a stop to it.

Bhagwat says RSS would not comment on the Kandahar hijacking episode. The elections have given a "jolt" to BJP and it needed an urgent balancing act, said Bhagwat. Bhagwat also said that the RSS believed that 50-60 was the ideal age for someone to lead the organisation.

Many had expected Bhagwat to comment on the crisis in the BJP but he refrained from doing so saying it was an internal matter of the party.
