It happened on Sunday night. Naxalites in police uniform stormed Jehanabad district, 45 kilometres from Patna, killing at least 12 people and triggering a fierce gun-battle with police. CPI (Maoist) activists attacked the district prison in an apparent bid to free their associates, according to Union home ministry sources. This photograph shows onlookers gathered outside the shops damaged in the cross firing.
