Maharshtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane's son Nitesh Rane is in trouble after an activist belonging to his own organization Swabhimaan alleged on Thursday that Nitish had shot him. According to police officials, they received a call from the Powai's Hiranandani hospital informing them about one of the patients undergoing treatment in the hospital had suffered a bullet injury.

The man, Chintu Sheikh belongs to the Swabhimaan Sanghatna, an NGO floated by Narayan Rane that is now being managed by his son Nitesh.

In a statement to the Powai police, Sheikh said that he

had gone to meet Nitesh at his Khar office on Thursday.  Sheikh claimed that he was assaulted by Nitesh and his associates in the office without any provocation.

Sheikh claimed that Nitesh shot at him to kill him. The bullet however just brushed his cheek. Though the incident happened in Khar, the Powai police got involved as Sheikh admitted himself at the Hiranandani hospital under its jurisdiction.

Police officials have now taken a statement from Nitesh, who has denied the incident. Nitesh may face arrest as a case of attempt to murder has been registered against him at the Khar Police station.
