From Kolkata to Mumbai: Durga Puja

Khar Ramkrisha Mission Puja

Durga Puja here speaks more of ritual and devotion than anything else. A speciality of the idol here is an Ekchala, where all idols are on the same canvas.

The sprawling Mission premises also houses an exhibition of clothes, decorative pieces and household items. A food court serves Bengali delicacies like Rasogolla, Payesh and Mishti Doi. The mission arranges an elaborate bhog on Ashtami, the second day of the festival, and also holds a Kumari Puja, where an 8-year old girl is worshipped as a young representative of Goddess Durga.

A perfect milieu for non-resident Bengalis whose hearts pine for the festival in Kolkata.
